This postcard came all the way from Canada. A fellow postcrosser sent me this interesting “The Rose House” postcard. Thanks a lot Aaldert. She lives in Picton, Ontario which is about a three hour drive west of Ottawa – Canada’s capital. Picton is one of several small communities known collectively as Prince Edward County.
Information at the back of the postcard:
“The Rose House” located on Country Road 8 in North Marysburgh Township, Prince Edward County, Ont. Now a museum, it was originally the home of John Rose. It incorporates timbers from the Lutheran Church built by disbanded allied German troops who were part of the first group of settler in the County. A Provincial Historical Plaque to the “Marysburgh Settlement of 1784” is located here.
